Bat boxes are located throughout the homestead property, and bats can often be spotted nesting and flying at the site. Free.

• Forest therapy walk, Angora Fruit Farm, 502 Angora Road, Lower Alsace Township, 9 a.m. Join certified forest therapy guide Mette Gleason on the trails of Antietam Lake Park for a forest therapy experience and guided meditation. • Evening on the Green, Daniel Boone Homestead, 400 Daniel Boone Road, Exeter Township, 4-8 p.m. This after-hours event will feature a pop-up biergarten by Sly Fox Brewery as well as wine and mead by Ridgewood Winery and Stonekeep Meadery. Plus enjoy delicious food, frozen treats and non-alcoholic beverages from Wow Wagon and Mister Softee. Guests will be able to enjoy a colonial beer brewing demonstration by the Regimental Brewmeister. The Boone House and Bertolet Log House will be open all evening for tours, and visitors are invited to stroll the grounds as dusk falls. Music on the lawn will be provided by the Subterraneans and Days of Old. Admission: adults $10, seniors (65+) $8, youth (6-17) $5. Children 5 and under and DBHA members are free. Additional fees apply for food and beverage purchases. No pets (except service animals) and no smoking.

• Ringgold Band Concert, Conrad Weiser Homestead Park, 28 Weiser Lane, Heidelberg Township, 5 p.m. The patriotic concert is an annual event honoring all military veterans. Veterans can stop by the registration table between 4:30-5 p.m. to register and receive an American flag compliments of the Friends of the Conrad Weiser Homestead. Admission and parking is free. Contributions will be accepted by free will collection. The concert will be held on the front lawn of Weiser home. Bring a lawn chair or blanket.
July 3:

• Independence Day event, Daniel Boone Homestead, 400 Daniel Boone Road, Exeter Township, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Learn about the different kinds of troops who fought for America’s freedom during the Revolutionary War, including the militia, Continentals, Dragoons and Riflemen. Guided Boone House tours will be offered regularly throughout the day, as well as blacksmithing and gunsmithing demonstrations. There will also be activities for children, including a militia muster activity, Colonial toys and games and crafts. Admission: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (65 and over), $5 for youth ages 6-17. Children under 5 and DBHA members free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
• Commemoration of the 248th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, 2 Mark Bird Lane, Union Township, 2 p.m. Other programming will be offered throughout the day and is open and free to the public. There will be musical performances by Molly Herman and Mekhi Bloodworth, presenting of colors by Girl Scouts of the Daniel Boone Service Unit 763 and Boy Scouts of Pack and Troop 595 and the reading of winning essay submissions from local middle school and high school students. The ceremony will conclude with the public being invited to take part in a reading of the Declaration of Independence. From 11 a.m-4 p.m., a variety of programming will be offered, including orientation talks, molding and aluminum casting demonstrations, modern and period Junior Ranger activities and blacksmithing demonstrations.

Learn about Daniel Boone’s childhood in the Oley Valley — get your hands dirty in the Colonial garden and see what colonists would have grown, make a hex sign and learn how to weave a potholder. Each morning will feature a different theme with hands-on activities: Pennsylvania German Culture, Farm Life & the Colonial Garden, Daniel Boone and Early American Trades.
