There's a lot more then those though too. Seems like almost all preorders. Blah Blah Blah GCU Blah :p

Going to lock in a few now while I can and since I have some Amazon credit.

I just preordered Ratchet and Clank. After the discount and after tax - $34.18.

Just a warning for anyone looking for an actual protector, you probably don't want this. It's more of a skin than anything. If you have kids or want an actual protector, grab one of these. I got it at Gamestop for like $7.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

The Amazon discount is also working on most collector edition preorders. Street Fighter 5, Dark Souls 3, The Division, Deus Ex, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Far Cry Primal steelbook, etc.

I went ahead and did the Uncharted 4 one just in case Best Buy doesn't add the $10 reward zone cert. I still don't pay sales tax, so it's a little more savings than GCU :)

Were you able to use the Nyko battery pack?

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I'm not sure, I never had one of those

EinCB01-12-16 12:22 PM

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I'm thinking it over. I don't have any children around, but it seems like I would have to remove the Nyko battery in order to use it.

Thanks for your response!

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I just bought that Mario cover with pen for like 11 bucks a few days ago... :(

Seems like the Amazon Prime deal is on all new preorders and new releases two weeks old or less. While it's still just another case of matching a competitor, as a Prime member, that is all kinds of awesome.

Shagrath01-12-16 03:17 PM

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Amazon Prime is now knocking off 20% on all "new release" games and pre-orders. They state a new release is anything within two weeks of the release window, and it's retro-active to all pre-orders as well, so you don't need to do anything.

I just tested this with a pre-order game, and it knocked off $12.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Amazon now has a full page dedicated to it. Glad to see it's not a limited time thing and they are including it in the Prime benefits:

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Nice! As long as Best Buy doesn't go belly up and Amazon has no reason to compete.

Shag was clearly relaying the news that the deal wasn't isolated to a handful of titles. That Polygon article had the same link matty later came in and posted.

This is all good news! I will continue to use my GCU because of the $10 bonus as well as basically 3x points on those purchases for basically an additional $5 every new purchase. These will offset tax.

Now, when it expires...

fujishig01-12-16 04:31 PM

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Yeah, my GCU expires next month. I'm so lazy that the fact that I have to actually go into the store to renew it is why I haven't done so yet...

Ahh... I was starting to wonder if Shag had a few people on ignore.

I saw it on Facebook and thought it was new. I didn't know they had already been doing the discount on some select titles earlier.

I also don't really follow physical releases much anymore, as I haven't progressed on to the current generation of consoles and just stick with PC now. I want to say I'm saving money by getting games for cheap (like the new Tomb Raider for $0.01 price glitch), but I probably buy 20x as many titles as I did on console.

Same.

My GCU expires on 1/22 actually. Not renewing. I don't buy so many games anymore. And when I buy I usually wait until they are under $30. That's when GCU can be advantage, but Amazon usually matches.

EinCB01-12-16 09:43 PM

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

For me, I'm sticking with Best Buy. Amazon doesn't have buy 1, get 1 40% off for games, do they? Also, the discount only applies for pre-orders and for games released within 2 weeks of the release date. In addition to that, you can get $5 certificate for every 250 points you get at Best Buy. I'm happy Amazon is becoming competitive, though. Hopefully this will make Gamer's Club Unlocked better.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Some decent deals at Best Buy:

Batman Arkham Knight $15 for XB1 & PS4 ($12 GCU)

Rock Band 4 w/ guitar for $80 ($64 GCU)

Best Buy via eBay has also been selling XB1 elite controllers for $120, so keep an eye out over there if you are looking for one at a discount.

That's really good with Arkham Knight, though I wonder if we will just end up seeing a GOTY/Ultimate Edition. We did with both Asylum and City (but not Origins though). That and the season pass for Arkham is a beefy $30. Hrmmm, decisions decisions.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

FWIW, the Arkam Knight DLC sucks

Mortal Kombat X is also $25 ($20 GCU)

Mad Max is $25 ($20 GCU)

Saints Row IV: Re-Elected + GAT Out of Hell is $15 ($12 GCU)

It's Black Friday at Best Buy again ;)

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:25 PM.
