We know that starting your college journey is an exciting time for you and your families and you likely have questions about "What's next?" — We have prepared this message as a guide to assist you as you begin your new life as a UH Maui ʻohana!

Classes can fill up fast! Follow the steps below to register now or call the UHMC Counseling Office at (808) 984-3306 to book a meeting with a counselor!

  • Early College (Dual Credit, Running Start) student: please call (808) 984-3267 or 1 (800) 479-6692 toll-free.

  • International students: please visit our International Student Admissions or contact uhmcar@hawaii.edu or call +1 (808) 984-3267.

1. Setup or reactivate your MyUH AccountGetting Started - University of Hawaii Maui College (1)

Create or reactivate your UH username. In your acceptance notification, you should take note of your UH ID Number (ex: 23254658). Your UH username will be your email address like so: [username]@hawaii.edu.

2. Health Clearance

The State of Hawaii Department of Health (DOH), the Hawai‘i Administrative Rules, Chapter 11-157 requires all Getting Started - University of Hawaii Maui College (2)students to meet health requirements before they attend any post-secondary institution in the State of Hawaii. The following immunization clearances areREQUIRED before you can register forin-person and hybrid classes:

  1. Certificate of TB (Tuberculosis) examination,
  2. MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), and
  3. Varicella (chickenpox), and
  4. Tdap (tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis)

The health clearances must be from a U.S. Licensed Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), Advanced Practiced Registered Nurse (APRN), or Physician Assistant (PA). You can download theHealth Clearance Formand take it to your physician for completion. Once completed, please submit immunization clearances viaMed+Proctor.

Students without the required health clearances will be allowed to register foronline coursesonly.

3. Where do I submit?

MED+PROCTOR

The University of Hawaiʻi has partnered with Med+Proctor for the clearance of Health Immunization Records. As of Spring 2023, all incoming students are required to use Med+Proctor to submit their Health Clearance/Immunization records.

To submit your records for clearance, use the following instructions to create your Med+Proctor account:

Step One: Register
  • Ensure you have been admitted and have a UH Student ID number and have created your UH username before completing this process.Click hereif you need to create your UH Username. You can find your UH ID number in your acceptance email.
  • Then go toMed+Proctorto register for an account.
Step Two: Gather your documents
  • If you have your health clearance records, you may upload that to Med+Proctor. Or if documentation is not available, you may download theUH Health Clearance Formand have a licensed medical provider complete the form. (A licensed provider can sign the form; it does not have to be the provider who originally vaccinated you.)
Step Three: Upload
  • Once you've collected all the necessary documents and or your form has been completed and signed by a healthcare provider, log back into your account and upload it to Med+Proctor. (If you have proof of immunization from a pharmacy, you may upload those and Med+Proctor will be able to verify this information.)

Use Financial Aid

Apply for financial aid (FAFSA).The page includes forms to apply for Free Application For Federal Students Aid or FAFSA, and other requirements (UH Maui College FAFSA code is: 001615). Financial aid helps students and their families pay for college. There are several types of financial aid, including grants and scholarships, work-study, and loans. Enroll in Tuition Payment Plan

Pay part or all of your tuition and fees in scheduled installments by enrolling in theUH Installment Payment Plan. Students must be registered for the current semester to sign up for the payment plan. $30 application fee per semester (non-refundable) Can be combined with financial aid, loans or scholarships if applicable. For further questions, please consult with the Financial Aid Office.

Scholarships are gift aid that is awarded based on a variety of factors, such as academic achievement, leadership, field of study, and/or financial need. Scholarships do not need to be repaid. Keep in mind that scholarship season generally starts in October and ends in March.

4. Take the Career & Education Planning Assessment

5. Take the UHMC Online Readiness Quiz

Are you ready for online learning? Completethis short readiness activityto find out how prepared you are to take an online class. This activity contains 6 sections and will take about 10 minutes to complete. At the conclusion of this activity, you will receive an emailed report outlining your readiness for online learning as well as some resources to help you prepare for an online class.

6. Class Registration

Academic counseling appointments are available in-person, by video or by phone. If you haven't met or don't know who your academic counselor is, no worries, here is your list of friendly counselors by program major. The Counseling office is open during the regular business days and hours: Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM, excluding holidays in the Hoʻokipa Building.

Things to Consider Before Meeting with Academic Counselor

Math and English placement

Students may use the self-guideMultiple Measure Placement Factorsto determine placement in English and Math courses. Please discuss details with your academic counselor.

Participation inEdReadyis recommended for students who do not have any of the placement factors or those whose scores, grades, or GPA place them below ENG 22 to determine their starting course for English and Math.

This includes students with Advanced Placement (AP), military credits, and college credits from non-UH institutions.

1) If you attended college outside the University of Hawaiʻi system, request official transcripts from your previous institution(s), then; 2) Complete the Transfer Credit Evaluation Request Form.
