🇰🇪 Mabatini, Mathare, NairobiA day of sewer line inspection to see damage done to the infrastructure by the floods and the demolitions in the river riparian zones by government. So much destruction, absurdist landscape. We were scoping with a taskforce of for investment in #climate adaptive sewer and water systems. The floods come with challenges and opportunities. Primary focus is restoring damage done mainly in the informal settlement regions.WaterWorX NWB Fonds Blue Deal Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken

As someone who has dedicated a significant part of my career to supporting Mathare communities in building climate-resilient sanitation systems, I deeply understand the challenges of floods and infrastructural disruptions. Your work is not just important; it is vital to safeguarding public health and the welfare of Mathare residents and the entire city. The commitment to creating climate-adaptive water and sewer systems is inspiring and essential for our collective future. Keep up the exceptional work!

Very important work Peter de Koning, very sad to see the destruction caused by the floods and the potential harm for public health. It would indeed be a bright spot to turn this into an opportunity for innovative climate-adaptive sewer & water systems. Good luck and keep up the good work.

Great work Peter de Koning, Jakob Ollivier de Leth and NSWSC taskforce. Hope that your combined efforts could bring sensitisation on the crucial role of riparian zones and leaving these empty for the sake of saving lives and preventing infra damage. However the larger role lays with the GoK to provide designated areas for adequate housing for the urban poor.

World Waternet i.s.m. Delen is fijn!Dank,Peter de Koning - World Waternet Namens Frank Heckman (Embassy of the Earth) en de Blue Angels in Nairobi.Wil je mij alsjeblieft betalen voor 'Emergency Response Floods Nairobi' via https://lnkd.in/d74qRF9MDeze link is geldig t/m 17 mei

Today we’ve met with a Kakuzi Plc team and our #Njururi Coordinating Council to discuss their continuous commitment to bring back Njururi to the Thika River Basin Ecosystem. Specifically their contribution into the Njururi Fund which targets to collect resources for the seed initiatives of the various taskforces. These include a.o. planting of 100.000 trees and development of a recreational site to honour the beauty and sacredness of the river.World Waternet Embassy of the Earth NWB Fonds WaterWorX Unie van Waterschappen (Dutch Water Authorities)
